Treating Animals with Reiki,
Reiki can be used for your pets too!
Often people are surprised and pleased by the difference in an animals overall health and emotional well being following Reiki treatments. Most animals love Reiki after their initial introduction to it. Some need to move slower to understand the healing energy they are experiencing.
Animals are also naturally open to Reiki energy and will seek out your touch whenever they are in need of a boost. Reiki is gentle and non-invasive. It does not cause stress, discomfort, or pain, and yet it can yield good results. There is no physical manipulation or pressure applied during a treatment. Like children, they will naturally know when they have had enough. Usually, during a treatment they become quite calm and relaxed. However, if they are not, do not force a treatment on them.
As with treating humans, special attention should be given to areas that draw large amounts of energy. If an animal is very restless, or it seems dangerous to treat with hands on, absentee healing can be used.
Animals suffer emotionally just as their humans do. They can feel fear, anxiety, frustration, loneliness, boredom and grief as well as the more positive emotions. Reiki can also help to heal old emotional traumas that may still be causing problems long after the event. It can relieve stress and promote mental and physical relaxation.

Distant Reiki sessions can be very beneficial to introduce an animal to Reiki Natural Healing or to provide treatments when hands-on is not convenient. It normally doesn’t take long before animals want Reiki with no hesitation.
Reactions to Reiki and other healing techniques vary widely. Many animals relax and go to sleep, some may stretch or yawn, others become restless and may itch or groom themselves during a treatment. It is important to allow the animal to rest in the period following the treatment and allow access to clean, fresh drinking water.
Reiki healing may be requested for many different reasons but specific results and response to treatment cannot be predicted or guaranteed. A single treatment will be beneficial but a course of Reiki treatments given over a few weeks may be recommended depending on individual circumstances.
